The Youth Grant Committee (YGC) of Grand Rapids Community Foundation is seeking members for the upcoming school year. Students from any public, private or homeschool in Kent County are welcome to apply.
During the school year, Youth Grant Committee members meet and assess youth issues, develop a request for proposals process to address those needs, follow up with previous grantees, conduct interviews and site visits and present grant recommendations to the Community Foundation's Board of Trustees.
Each year the YGC awards grants with a value of around $50,000.
Youth Grant Committee members meet second Tuesday of each month (September to May), from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at the Community Foundation in downtown Grand Rapids.
New Youth Grant Committee members are selected by the committee, based on an application and questionnaire. The YGC strives to have a balance of diverse voices, opinions, and backgrounds among its membership. It is proud to represent different schools, grades, genders, races, identities, economic circumstances, religions and abilities.
The application process is simple, but before you get started review the PDF of questions and THEN complete the online form.
The deadline for applications is July 21 at 5 PM.
