Sometimes we hear that Grand Rapids Community Foundation is all about the city of Grand Rapids. While we award a significant number of grants in the city, we also make grants across the county. And in a few other places, too! Thanks to a bequest from Mary I. Hunting, we have a wonderful fund for summer camps and are able to award grants to camps that reach out to underserved and at-risk kids in Kent County. We also have a number of affiliate funds in communities that border us--Ionia, Sparta, Lowell and Jension-Hudsonville for example. These local community foundations have endowed funds with us and make grants that benefit their specific community.
This map, which is pinned with the name and location of each grantee that we made a grant to this year will give you an idea of our scope. The grants pinned here are valued at about $11 million. To read more about each, check out our annual report.
