Intern Job Description/Posting
Winter 2012
Grand Rapids Community Foundation
15-20 hours per week, pay $8.40 per hour
Starting January until mid-May, 2012
Duties:
- Conduct research, perform interviews and write about Community Foundation grantees, donors and areas of funding for use in the quarterly journal, Current, printed pieces and for the web.
- Write copy and produce audio and video for the Foundation’s website.
- Learn the Foundation’s CMS and make web edits as needed.
- Write and distribute press releases to the media, make follow up calls. Pitch story ideas.
- Help with special events at the Community Foundation.
- Conduct interviews and research, write articles, and produce video/audio as assigned for The Rapidian.
- Manage the West Michigan Summer Camps website and its social media.
- Help promote the Community Foundation’s scholarship programs and outreach efforts.
Qualifications:
- Junior or senior in college, journalism or communication major.
- Excellent writer and self-editor.
- Outgoing, assertive, confident personality – great customer service skills.
- Well-organized, independent worker.
- Understanding/knowledge of basic public relations and journalism principles.
- Willingness to work hard and build a great portfolio.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, basic video and audio equipment.
- Understanding and experience with social media.
- Design ability is a plus.
- Fun, good sense of humor.
