Community Foundation Has New Board Leadership, Trustee

The Grand Rapids (Michigan) Community Foundation Board of Trustees recently underwent a change in leadership and membership.

Margaret Sellers Walker was elected chair of the 12-member board succeeding Richard (Dick) Haslinger who completed his term in December. In further changes, Cecile Fehsenfeld takes the seat of Trustee Beverly Drake who served two terms. Trustees serve a four-year term.

Sellers Walker is the Associate Director of the Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University. She joined the Board in 1999 and was reappointed in 2003. She has served on a variety of committees of the Foundation including the Executive, Trusteeship, Human Resource, and Investment Review Committees. Prior to joining the Board, she served on the Scholarship Committee.

Fehsenfeld is President and co-owner of Schuler Books & Music. She has been involved with many community activities and served on a variety of boards including the Economic Club of Grand Rapids, co-chair of the Legacy Celebration of women’s history in Grand Rapids; the Blodgett Board of Trustees and served as commodore of the Grand Rapids Yacht Club. Currently she is serving on the Calvin College Artists series steering committee and the Hospice of Michigan State Foundation Board. She is also on the Early Childhood Commission Board.
