A New Century of Service and Impact

For generations, Grand Rapids Community Foundation has worked to understand and respond to the evolving needs of our community. We are proud of our past successes and the infrastructure we have built, together with our communities, for creating positive change. Now, we have the opportunity to dig deeper into our aspiration: to cultivate a community where there are equitable pathways to success for everyone.

Right now, our most pressing opportunity is to create a fairer and more equitable West Michigan—with pathways to success for everyone. To reimagine our community, we must reshape practices that keep people locked out of participation. By leaning into existing partnerships, inviting new relationships and deepening our listening, we can create a brighter future. This video includes Community Foundation partners and their visions for Kent County.

Building a Stronger West Michigan

Since 1922, the Community Foundation has successfully brought partners together to make a positive difference. From supporting social services during the Great Depression to fighting AIDS in the 1980s, equalizing access to post-secondary education in the 2000s to supporting residents during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have a track record of caring for our community and creating lasting change.

Community members inform our work

As Campaign Chairs, Win Irwin, Dr. Brandy Lovelady Mitchell and Dr. Juan Olivarez provide strategic direction to this campaign and believe in the promise of its success. Many other community members are advocates for the campaign and the Community Foundation.
